2023/2024 Season: Championship National Weekend 4 Roundup

Day 1

Game 1: Nottingham Forest vs Leeds Dynamos

We began the match positively, passing and moving fluidly, creating opportunities on goal and effectively holding them back. Eventually, they found the breakthrough, but we maintained pressure and limited their clear chances. However, they still managed to score, leading to a 2-0 victory for Leeds. Key areas for improvement include enhancing communication and avoiding interference with each other’s play.

Game 2: Nottingham Forest vs AFC Bournemouth PFC

Our opening performance was strong, displaying excellent ball circulation and movement, which frustrated the opposition. Aston’s early goal gave us the lead, but despite dominating possession, we failed to capitalise on scoring opportunities. We need better composure and accuracy to extend our advantage. Unfortunately, we conceded in the final moments, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Game 3: Nottingham Forest vs Teesside Steel

We initiated the game with purposeful passing and movement, although we encountered difficulties in defending against 2-on-1 situations. Finley’s remarkable long-range shot, assisted by Jack, provided us with an early lead. Despite creating promising chances, our inability to convert allowed Teesside to secure a 4-1 victory.

Game 4: Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City PFC

Although the match began with tense moments, we gradually settled into a rhythm, creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities and effectively containing Manchester City’s attacks. Aston’s breakthrough goal was pivotal, yet our lack of precision prevented us from widening the gap. Nevertheless, we clinched our first victory of the season with a 1-0 scoreline.

Conclusion and Table Positioning:

After securing 4/12 points, the team was able to successfully move up a position from 12th to 11th, thanks to their lower goal difference vs Manchester City PFC. The team now has one more weekend to secure some much needed points to exit the relegation zone, which would avoid them from playing in the playoffs to remain in the WFA National league.
